AN ANNIVERSARY OF SORTS…

December 4, 2020

Today, September 18, marks two years since my heart attack…just two months after Rachel went to heaven.  These two years and two months have certainly been a roller-coaster ride…with a new appreciation for my faith, more empathy for the hurting, and a greater desire for heaven.  Thank you for your prayers.

PERSONALLY SPEAKING…

My health is good…I take my meds as I should…and walk three miles every day.  I miss my friends overseas.  I am with my oldest daughter and her family for dinner each evening…so I am fed well. Last week I traveled to Virginia and North Carolina to be with friends and visit some of Rachel’s family.  It was great.  Next Sunday evening I will preach at our home church.

AUGUST 16, 2012…

That was the date that Rachel and I decided by faith to be “full time” in ministry with OBI.  Thank you so much for those who have supported us and prayed for us since that time.  I walked out of the dentist office this morning with a grateful heart that I had the necessary funds to pay.  All my needs have been met, and I am able to share with others. So grateful…

HELPING OVERSEAS PASTORS…

As you know, back in May, because of your prayers and giving, we were able to raise $53,000 for OBI which we shared with ANM in the overall effort to raise $400,000 which was sent overseas for Covid-19 relief.  Since then we have been able through OBI to send an additional $10,000 mostly for food for pastoral families and poor villagers as well as thermometers so that pastors could re-start their church services.

Because we have had to postpone 10 conferences this year, all monies given to OBI is being sent to help those in need. Many pastors and village people are day laborers…working, getting paid, buying rice and taking it home for the family; however, such work opportunities have virtually been shut down because of the virus…Thus no money for food!  We are doing what we can to help.  One leader told me that the funds we sent were like “water on parched ground”.  This is not a plea; however, if you are led to help with any amount, send it to OBI, and I will see that it gets to those who are hungry.  Believe me, it is not wasted, and God promises to bless you. (Luke 6:38)

HOW ARE YOU DOING?  LET ME KNOW…

So many are hurting and in need of prayer…here and abroad. Not only the Covid thing, but grief from loss of loved ones, cancer, unsaved friends and family members, financial reverses, accidents, relational difficulties, etc.  “In this world we will have trouble”…Christ has overcome!  We come in His Name to pray, trust, believe, and hope.  This world is not our home!  Praise God!

HANG ON…DON’T GIVE UP…YOU ARE OF GREAT VALUE TO GOD…HE LOVES YOU UNCONDITIONALLY…HIS MERCY IS NEW THIS MORNING…YOU CAN MAKE IT!  HALLELUJAH!!!

Privileged by grace; committed to serve,

Jerry
